MARCO Fishing System Diagnostic and Performance Analysis

Our goal is to make sure that our customers have the most efficient and effective fishing operation possible. In order to achieve this goal we need to diagnose your fishing system and analyze its performance. Once we visualize the data, we can see where the most effective changes can be made, and we can communicate our suggestions to you easily and effectively.

At Marco we pride ourselves in gathering data in the field and analyzing all aspects of a system to make sure our customers get the maximum performance from our machinery, their fishing gear, their hydraulic system and their fishing method.

After years of increasingly detailed sensoring and data analysis, we have determined that the deck machinery, the boat's hydraulic supply, the net itself, and a skipper's fishing style are all one. And until now, nobody has looked at and measured the entire operation on a vessel to see if improvements can be made, and once made, taken fresh readings to see the difference. Marco has done this, and can do it for you.

The above is an example of a graph showing the leadline sinking, and the depths reached. We also have a load cell on the skiff and the boat, measuring the towing force applied to the net. We also have the hydraulic pressure on the purse winch and the power block. And finally, we have an on deck camera, synchronized with the graphs, so that you can see what is happening on deck and the resulting effect below the surface.

We start by putting pressure sensors on the net in strategic locations.

Then we analyze the data.

BEFORE AND AFTER GRAPHS: The above is an example of a graph showing 2 sets in BLACK of a net before changes were made, and 2 sets in RED after changes were made. The customer wanted his net to fish deeper. It clearly does.

We also have live sensors available during testing so that we can cross check our results in the wheelhouse during the sets.

We install hydraulic pressure sensors at key points in the vessel's system.

HYDRAULIC PERFORMANCE GRAPHS:
Then we graph and analyze the data that has been recorded. We need to know that the machinery is getting the anticipated oil pressures and flow. If there is something wrong with the vessel’s hydraulic supply, the performance will be compromised.

We install wireless Load Cells at key points around the deck and in the skiff to measure the real loads on the net and machinery.

We graph the pressures and loads together and analyze the data.

We mount several cameras around the vessel. We can synchronize the camera output to the data we collect. The result is the animation you see on this page.
